Our Services
At Horizontal Holes we strive to acheive excellence in the services we provide. We are one of the pioneers in the field of horizontal earth boring and we continue to set standards through research and innovation. Use us when you want to get your job done right the first time!
Horizontal Auger Boring
Horizontal Auger Boring is one of the oldest methods of trenchless technology for installation of a casing underground with minimal disturbance to the surface. It involves the use of boring machines in conjunction with different systems for steering on line and grade.

At Horizontal Holes we provide complete solutions to your horizontal boring problems. We install pipelines from 1/2 in. to 10 ft on line and grade as per your requirements.
Large Diameter Auger Boring
Large diameter auger boring involves use of a conventional boring machine with a Large Diameter Boring Attachment (LDBA). The LDBA is a full-faced machine with a rotating cutting head for excavating the soil and is similar to a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). The cutting head rotates and excavates the soil, which comes inside the pipe through the openings in the cutting head. An auger system is used to carry the spoil to the jacking pit.

Line and grade is monitored by using a laser beam. The laser is set-up in the back of the jacking pit and it travels above the boring machine and below the top of the pipe and through the pipe to a target that is setup near the front of the machine. The LDBA operator sits behind the cutting head and monitors the target and makes the necessary adjustments using the hydraulic rams to keep the tunnel on line and grade.

We can install diameters ranging from 36 in. to 120 in. using this method in variety of soil types and site conditions.
Steering on Grade
Horizontal Holes uses a patented grade steering technology designed for durability and ease of operation. These steering heads are designed with bearings in the hinges and steering knuckles and as an option can have torque reduction gear boxes mounted on them. Even at distances of 500 ft it is possible to turn the head with an ordinary ratchet.

These patented steering heads have been in use for a long time and have proved themselves in the field. Bores as long as 540 ft have been accomplished.

We manufacture the grade steering heads through our sister company Horizontal Equipment Manufacturing, Inc. (H.E.M.I.).

Steering on Line and Grade
Horizontal Holes uses a patented line and grade steering system developed by H.E.M.I. and designed for durability and ease of operation. These steering heads have the capability of steering the pipe in any desired direction. The grade is monitored using a water level, which is an integral part of a bore while the line is monitored by using a sonde on the nose of the steering head. Once the line and grade are determined any corrections are made by turning the steering rods in the  launching pit.

Our systems have been tested and proven to be highly effective on many jobs that we and others who use our system have done in the past.

Jacking/Box Culverts
Pipe jacking is a trenchless technology method for installing a prefabricated pipe or box culvert through the ground from a launching pit to a receiving pit. The spoil is transported through the jacking pipe or box culvert to the launching pit by manual or mechanical means.

At Horizontal Holes we have the ability to jack box culverts using this method.
